How does it work?

We receive prices for USA and European shares converted to sterling, (GBX - pence per share), quoted by the London Stock Exchange on their International Retail Service listing, so. As there are no difficult currency conversions prices for you to work out, the quote you see to trade is in sterling! The shares settle in the same way as UK shares as CREDIT DEPOSITORY INTERESTS (CDI's for short) and attract no 0.5% Stamp Duty! CREST holds an interest in this stock centrally for you and dividends are sent direct to your account here by CREST. The only restriction is that you cannot withdraw the stock as a certificate, it must be held in nominee form. You can also set our full range of Limit Orders on these stocks - Buy/Sell/Stop Loss and Rising Buy automatically and once again there is no extra charge for this service!

There are over 300 stocks covered at the moment that you can trade electronically at £9. Any stock not covered can be traded for you over the phone (0845 070 1125), but this is more expensive (cost quoted at time of dealing if dealing by phone).

 

What are the dealing hours?

The UK market in CDI's is an electronic market and you can deal European shares up from 08:15 until 16:25. USA shares quoted as CDI's can be traded from 14:45 until 20:55 GMT. Please see below for further details.
